Research Goals

Survey (40)

To gain a basic understanding of our audience and project focus: Streaming. This was an effective method to get a broad understanding of the topic before our interviews.

Interviews (05)

To garner in depth understanding on the factors that make streams and their interactions are so attractive to viewers.

Observations (03)

To study viewer interactions with streaming platforms (V-S and V-V). This would later allow us to pinpoint and reinvent key features of current platforms.

Expert Interviews (02)

To get another perspective on streaming from streamers themselves. This was key to designing concepts that would work past surface level, and address solid needs.

Primary Research Methods

Research Insights and How  Might We (HMW)

Positive spamming is valued by communities, but clogs up chat, limiting reciprocated interaction opportunities.

HMW Manage spamming to foster a more engaging chat environment while retaining the aspect of providing feedback?

Streamers' emotions are key to a stream's success, but being in constant goodspirits is impossible.

HMW This is your Service description. Use this space to describe what the service entails, benefits for users and any other important information.

Small communities have unique closer bonds between individuals. ER can greatly enhance the stream interactions available.

HMW Make use of emotion to enhance on and off-stream interactions within small communities?

Lurkers like “Just for Fun” viewers are unable to participate in stream interactions with current platform designs.

HMW Use ER to provide viewers an alternative to physical stream interactions?
