About the project
Problem
Anger is a core human emotion that people constantly struggle to keep at bay. Younger adults especially have a harder time managing their anger since they have less control over their impulses.
Solution
Lumi is a social robot that helps people manage their low and high levels of anger. The robot detects the level of anger in a given situation and responds accordingly by deploying color-changing LED lights, emitting unexpected sounds, and providing voice assistant technology. By implementing methods used in cognitive behavioral therapy Lumi can recognize the user's reoccurring patterns that trigger anger and reframe negative thoughts from the situation to identify the positive aspects found within.
